Going After Violent Crime
In Minnesota, crimes are prosecuted by county attorneys, but county attorneys can ask for help from the Attorney General on particularly tough cases. Keith rebuilt his office’s Criminal Division from a skeleton crew of 2 to a team of 12 prosecutors and support staff. Keith and his team are working hard to improve public safety across Minnesota. They have successfully prosecuted first degree murder, the attempted murder of multiple law enforcement officers, felony burglary, assault, sexual assault, and more. Keith has also sent criminals to jail for abusing and harming kids, and is committed to using all the powers of his office to defend young Minnesotans. And Keith led the prosecution of the officers that murdered George Floyd in front of the eyes of the world.
Holding Kia & Hyundai Accountable for Enabling Auto Thefts
Keith led a nationwide investigation into Kia and Hyundai for the ease at which their vehicles are stolen. In that investigation, Keith uncovered that Kia and Hyundai decided not to include industry-standard anti-theft devices in their cars because it would save them money. That’s what made their cars so easy to steal compared to other manufacturers’ cars, which included those anti-theft devices. That was unacceptable to Keith, given how much harm has come from Kia and Hyundai thefts across America. Keith forced Kia and Hyundai to pay as much as $500 million to install new anti-theft hardware in these vehicles and pay restitution to theft victims. Keith won’t let corporations put their profit before your safety.
Gun Safety
Holding Negligent Gun Sellers Accountable
Keith held one of Minnesota's largest gun retailers accountable for carelessly allowing guns onto the black market. Fleet Farm sold dozens of guns to two straw purchasers, including a gun later used in a 2021 mass shooting in St. Paul that killed one Minnesotan and injured more than a dozen others.
Fleet Farm ignored clear warning signs that it was selling firearms to criminals who were reselling them on the black market, so Keith took the company to court and won a settlement that requires Fleet Farm to pay $1 million and clean up its act. The company is overhauling how it trains staff to prevent this from ever happening again.
Suing Glock Over Illegal Machine Gun Conversions
Keith is suing gun manufacturer Glock for making handguns that can easily be converted into illegal machine guns using a cheap device known as a Glock switch. Glock has known about this vulnerability for decades without changing its design, even as these illegal machine guns fuel violence on Minnesota streets and put the lives of law enforcement in danger.

Protecting Young Minnesotans
Cracking Down on Vaping Companies That Target Kids
Keith has zero tolerance for corporations that prey on young people to turn a profit. That’s why he was the first Attorney General to take vaping giant Juul to trial for marketing to kids. Keith ultimately won a $60.5 million settlement from the company in 2023, the largest per-capita vaping settlement in the nation. Keith made sure that money went to preventing youth vaping.
Keith hasn’t let up on predatory vaping companies. He banned Florida-based High Light Vapes from Minnesota for selling e-cigarettes disguised as highlighters so kids could hide them at school. And he’s suing e-cigarette maker Loon in 2026 for clearly and illegally marketing its flavors to kids.
Jailing Criminals Who Hurt Kids
Keith has locked up criminals responsible for some of the most heinous crimes Minnesota has seen. He has secured decades-long sentences in cases involving a teacher and coach who assaulted his own students, a man who abused six children over several years, a caregiver who murdered a toddler in his care, a mother who tortured her own children, and more. Keith won’t let anyone get away with harming Minnesota’s kids.
Taking on Social Media Companies
Keith took Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, to court for designing their apps to addict kids and teens while downplaying the harm to their mental health. He's also suing TikTok for similar reasons. These companies are employing some of the best designers, programmers, and engineers on the planet to hook our kids, and that’s just not a fair fight. So Keith is stepping in to protect young Minnesotans.
