On Thursday, Keith testified before the King Committee hearing on violent extremism in America and made a powerful case for facts, fairness, and inclusion.
As Keith said during his testimony, the security challenges we face as a nation should be addressed through building relationships and working together with law enforcement--not through promoting stereotypes. He spoke about successful cooperation between law enforcement and the Muslim American community to stop terror plots, and argued that holding entire communities responsible for the evil acts of a few individuals endangers our security.
Ordinary citizens across this country have stepped up for the security of our nation -- and the Muslim American community is no different. As Keith stated in his testimony, we are all Americans and we all denounce violent extremism in all of its forms. If we bring together communities and authorities in cooperation, we can meet the security challenges of our time.
