Speaking on MPR, Rep. Ellison reiterated concerns about any cuts to programs like Social Security, which does not contribute to our nation's deficit. "Republicans have long wanted to carve into this program, and so it just looks like political opportunism to me," said Rep. Ellison.
Regarding programs like Medicare, Rep. Ellison highlighted needed reforms, such as allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices. With these types or reforms, "we could save literally tens of billions of dollars," without reducing benefits said Rep. Ellison.
