Keith has taken an active role in promoting women’s rights. He voted for the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work, and has consistently supported a woman’s right to choose. He currently holds a 100 percent legislative approval rating from Planned Parenthood.
By supporting the Affordable Care Act, Keith made clear that our families deserve access to affordable health care. Thanks to provisions in the bill, women have greater access to preventative care and screenings to detect diseases like breast cancer—before they are untreatable. The historic reform ensures that women, their children, and families will no longer be dropped from their coverage due to a pre-existing condition—because no one should ever go broke because they get sick.
With the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, extremist politicians have worked hard to set women back--with devastating economic, social, and political consequences. Instead of creating good jobs and ensuring access to affordable health care, these extremists are focused on undoing pay equity laws, defunding women's health organizations, and cutting assistance for low-income women and their families.
In order to ensure that women are never treated like second-class citizens, Keith held a community forum on protecting women's rights in an age of extremism. Read about the forum here, check out photos, and watch video:
