Volunteer of the Week: Sue Perpich

Friday, October 5, 2012

Every Friday, the Ellison Campaign highlights a Volunteer of the Week to show our appreciation for all of our volunteers’ hard work. We can’t do this without them! Make a difference and click here to sign up to volunteer.

Sue Perpich, daughter of former Minnesota Governor Rudy Perpich, is a long-time volunteer for Democratic candidates.

“I started with Jimmy Carter: that’s how far back I go,” she chuckles.

Now, Sue proudly volunteers for the Ellison Campaign. “Keith is a visionary, like my father,” she says. “I think he could be the President of the United States. That’s what I’m hoping.”

When Sue comes to our office to have one-on-one conversations with voters over the phone, she’s always accompanied by her trusty Chihuahua--aptly named Chi-Chi.

The tiny, well-behaved dog patiently sits on Sue’s lap as she dials.

“A lot of the people I talk to are planning to vote no on the voter restriction and anti-marriage amendments, which is really encouraging. They also want to know a lot about what Keith has done and what he’s planning to do. It’s fun to talk about because there’s so much he’s accomplished and planning to accomplish.”

When asked why she believes it’s important for people to get involved in the political process, Sue answers without hesitation: “If you want change, you have to get involved,” she says. “Every vote counts. You can’t take anything for granted.”

With just 32 days to go until the election, we need you to join Sue and be a part of our team.
