Every Friday, the Ellison Campaign highlights a Volunteer of the Week to show our appreciation for all of our volunteers’ hard work. We can’t do this without them! Make a difference and click here to sign up to volunteer.
As we get closer to the end of summer, our Volunteer of the Week is Nancy Bontreger. Joane McAfee, an Ellison Organizer, said that Nancy is “a hard and thorough worker. She enters data anytime I ask her to and stays up late most nights to make sure it gets done.” Nancy credits her status as a lifelong Democrat and as her primary contribution to the campaign decided to be a volunteer.
Nancy got started volunteering for campaigns with Councilwoman Barb Johnson of Ward 4 in Minneapolis. Since then she has continued to volunteer for campaigns because she believes, “time is worth more than money.”
Nancy is very dedicated to her volunteering and believes that being involved with a campaign is important. “We need to remind people that it matters to vote and people need to vote.” She also recognizes that many people do not vote in midterm elections, so she knows that the work she is doing helps make sure the work done every election keeps this country moving forward. Beth’s passion for campaigning is driven from keeping the Democrats in office who will work towards improving the lives of others.
When asked if Nancy had a message to the younger generation of voters, she said “I feel it is important for young people to get involved. They are our future, and it is important that people work for their future and the future of others.”
Thank you for your exceptional work Nancy, we’re so glad you decided to volunteer!
With just 73 days to go until the election, we need you to join Nancy and be a part of our team.
