I’m humbled by my colleagues’ support and excited to tackle all the hard work that lies ahead. Our nation faces big challenges, but the re-election of President Obama and a new, historically diverse incoming Congress means that we can keep moving America forward.
With the largest number of women and people of different ethnicities, religious affiliations, and sexual orientations about to take office this January, we will have a Congress that is truly more representative of all Americans.
Over the next month, I’ll work with my colleagues in the Progressive Caucus to prevent cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. I strongly believe that any deal to avert the fiscal cliff should not put greater hardship on our seniors, children, people with disabilities, or low income Americans.
As I do everything in my power to help solve America’s fiscal challenges, I want you to let me know which priorities you want me to focus on in 2013.
We accomplished a lot on Election Day, but there’s a lot of hard work to tackle ahead. Let’s stay engaged, informed, and keep organizing so we can continue moving forward.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
