STUDENT INTERNSHIPS!!!
I’m excited to announce a great opportunity for high school students to get involved with the unique, exciting political campaign supporting Keith Ellison’s re-election to US Congress.
The campaign is looking for 5 motivated individuals to work closely with the high school outreach program coordinator as part of Congressman Ellison’s campaign to turn out 2,000 new young voters. Though this is an unpaid internship, students can gain indispensable life and professional experience, as well as do their part to help shape this historic election.
Dates: May 1st through August 25th
Application deadline: April 22nd
Eligibility:
- Interns must be high school students or ’08 graduates
- Must be able to make a time commitment of 4 hours per week during the school year and 8-12 scheduled hours per week after school session ends
- Must be comfortable with approaching and engaging new people
- Must reside within Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District
- Must have resume turned in by Tuesday, April 22nd
Intern Responsibilities:
- Attending events to represent the campaign
- Street teaming: having a public presence in which you gather contacts and distribute promotional materials
- Recruiting student volunteers
- Registering new voters in the 5th congressional district
- Engaging and energizing communities around the electoral process and the Ellison campaign
- Working as a team to put together a ‘Get Out the Vote’ event for young voters
- Providing input into organizing the high school outreach projects
- Doing community outreach including door knocking, mailing and phone banking
